The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating sets you apart as a well-rounded, experienced dive educator. It shows that you’ve not only mastered the core of dive instruction, but also expanded your teaching into multiple specialty areas—and certified real students along the way.
As an MSDT, you’ll:
This milestone isn’t just a credential—it’s a statement that you’re a professional with both depth and breadth in dive training.
The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating is a recognition of both your experience and your commitment to diver education. It’s not a separate course—but rather a professional milestone awarded to instructors who meet two key criteria:
You can earn your MSDT rating by completing Specialty Instructor training (either one at a time or in a bundled package) and actively teaching students once you're a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor.
If you’re newly certified as an OWSI, I offer a MSDT Prep Bundle—a custom training track where we complete five Specialty Instructor courses together. This gives you the ability to immediately start teaching a wider range of courses and begin working toward your 25 student certifications.
Once both requirements are met, you'll be eligible to apply for the MSDT rating through PADI.
This designation isn’t just a resume booster—it’s a powerful way to grow your teaching confidence, expand your opportunities, and show dive employers that you’re serious about professional development.
As your mentor, I’ll help you reach MSDT status in a way that’s strategic, flexible, and tailored to your goals.
When you train with me, you'll:
Whether you're just finishing your Instructor Exam or looking to expand your teaching portfolio, I’ll help you craft an MSDT pathway that sets you up for long-term success in the dive industry.
Let’s take your instructor journey from “certified” to seasoned—and make you the instructor everyone wants to work (and dive) with.
