PADI master scuba diver trainer

Take Your Teaching—and Career—to the Next Level

The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating sets you apart as a well-rounded, experienced dive educator. It shows that you’ve not only mastered the core of dive instruction, but also expanded your teaching into multiple specialty areas—and certified real students along the way.

As an MSDT, you’ll:

  • Demonstrate your commitment to dive education
  • Open doors to employment at top-tier dive resorts and operations
  • Increase your income potential through a wider range of courses
  • Be eligible to assist on IDCs as you progress toward IDC Staff Instructor

This milestone isn’t just a credential—it’s a statement that you’re a professional with both depth and breadth in dive training.

About Master Scuba Diver Trainer

The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating is a recognition of both your experience and your commitment to diver education. It’s not a separate course—but rather a professional milestone awarded to instructors who meet two key criteria:

  • Hold five or more PADI Specialty Instructor certifications
  • Have certified at least 25 PADI divers

You can earn your MSDT rating by completing Specialty Instructor training (either one at a time or in a bundled package) and actively teaching students once you're a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor.

If you’re newly certified as an OWSI, I offer a MSDT Prep Bundle—a custom training track where we complete five Specialty Instructor courses together. This gives you the ability to immediately start teaching a wider range of courses and begin working toward your 25 student certifications.

Once both requirements are met, you'll be eligible to apply for the MSDT rating through PADI.

This designation isn’t just a resume booster—it’s a powerful way to grow your teaching confidence, expand your opportunities, and show dive employers that you’re serious about professional development.

As your mentor, I’ll help you reach MSDT status in a way that’s strategic, flexible, and tailored to your goals.

When you train with me, you'll:

  • Complete five Specialty Instructor courses that align with your interests and local dive opportunities
  • Learn how to structure and market specialty courses for real-world teaching
  • Receive hands-on coaching and feedback to strengthen your instructional style
  • Get guidance on building a certification plan to reach your 25 diver certs faster and more effectively
  • Understand how to position yourself for hiring advantages, higher income potential, and next-level professional ratings like IDC Staff Instructor or Master Instructor

Whether you're just finishing your Instructor Exam or looking to expand your teaching portfolio, I’ll help you craft an MSDT pathway that sets you up for long-term success in the dive industry.

Let’s take your instructor journey from “certified” to seasoned—and make you the instructor everyone wants to work (and dive) with.
